According to Reuters, April saw steep tariffs on Chinese vape products peak at 145%, now tempered to around 30%, but still enough to curtail imports. Between May 1–28, the FDA logged only 71 vape shipments from China compared to nearly 1,200 during the same period the previous year. The result: once‑regular restocks have become rare, and in some cases, nonexistent.

That sharp decline isn’t merely from costs—U.S. authorities have also escalated enforcement. Large FDA seizures, including a massive Chicago bust in February, have deterred imports. Many wholesalers have reported strict limits on how much Geek Bar and RAZ they can buy, sometimes as few as five boxes per order, reflecting heightened supply risks.

Popular Brands Like Geek Bar Hit Especially Hard

Scarcity coupled with tariff-driven costs are pushing retail prices higher. Yet, many consumers continue buying, and distributors believe Geek Bar could absorb price hikes of $5 or more without losing customers. Others worry about speculative or panic buying driving prices even higher.

Anecdotal reports from vape shop owners echo the data: some received only 10% of their usual Geek Bar shipments. One store owner noted, “We’ve never seen this level of supply chain disruption”. Another vape retailer recently announced a plan to introduce new disposable brands to offset Geek Bar shortfalls.

Alternative Vape Brands and Products are Available

As the shortage of Geek Bar and RAZ vapes deepens, retailers across the U.S. are rapidly pivoting to alternative brands to meet consumer demand. Many vape shops are now stocking lines like North Stellar, Pillow Talk Ice Control, Foger, Lost Mary, Lost Angel, Dojo iMate and Tyson Legend. These alternatives offer similar features such as high puff counts, mesh coils, and flavor variety to satisfy customers’ expectations while still being plentiful. The combined pressure of tariffs, enforcement seizures, and logistical attrition has throttled the supply of Geek Bar—and likely RAZ—disposables. While consumers may pay more or switch to emerging brands, the shift signifies a pivotal reshaping within the U.S. disposable vape market.
